"Hell is other people"

Tulsi Gabbard

“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party. It’s now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoking anti-white racism, who actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms enshrined in our Constitution.”

She’s got a point. Even President Obama recently chided Democrats to lighten up get their focus back on the basics. The Democrat Party used to stand for liberalism, to include free speech and equal treatment for all. It also used to stand against Republican warmongering. Of course, the GOP used to stand for fiscal responsibility and good government, but that’s for another day.

Rabid progressives are trashing Gabbard while unctuous conservatives laud her courage. No surprise. Conservatives heaped hot coals of scorn upon “traitors” like msnbc spotlight hound William Kristol, and “That January 6th Show” stars Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney.

Conservative Praise:

It’s the Foreign Policy… and…

She’s still not a Republican, since she holds mostly left-liberal views. Her meetup with conservatives is a rare double 180 confluence. Democrats and Republicans have flipped positions on pro-war/anti-war, and Gabbard has remained consistent.

Zeesham Aleem, MSNBC commentator observes

Gabbard has taken pointedly right-wing positions on issues like gay rights, trans rights and abortion rights. Strikingly, she also pivoted to the right on economic issues, describing President Joe Biden’s social safety net spending agenda as fostering a “cradle-to-grave mentality of government dependence.”

To a progressive, her actions look dangerously “right-wing,” but to normal people, it’s simply questioning the orthodoxy and trying to restore some sanity to our unhinged public ‘dialog,’ such as it is.

Gabbard’s appearances on Fox News really angered up the Democrats’ blood, based on how many articles raging against her cite that particular sin. A catty David Faris opines–in his article Tulsi Gabbard and the Democrats’ Quality Control Problem–that the Democrat Party needs to do a better job policing its ranks.

What does her Democrat Party departure–and the commentary surrounding it–say about our nation today?
